Job Title:     Tool & Die Maker / Moldmaker

 
Summary: Analyzes specifications, lays out metal stock, sets up and operates machine tools, and fits and assembles parts for fabrication and repairs and sets up and operates standard machine tools to perform varied operations by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: 

?    Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts.
?    Ability to navigate a C.A.D. or C.A.M. system to be able to produce pieces from 3-D models without the aid of blueprints.
?    Computes dimensions, plans layout, and determines assembly method and sequence of operations.
?    Builds parts and assists other departments with jigs, fixtures, machines, molds, and dies.
?    Builds and repairs molds and dies.
?    Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machine, shaper, and grinder, machine parts, and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications.
?    Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances.
?    Heat-treats tools or parts.
?    Examines standard or previously used dies, tools, jigs, fixtures, and recommends design modifications regarding construction and function of part.
?    Develops specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools and draws or sketches design of product.
?    Experience in CNC Machining, CNC EDM and CNC Wire a plus.
?    Other duties as assigned.

This position requires a high school diploma, 5 years related experience and/or training, and a journeyman’s card.  This position also requires that employees possess and/or demonstrate the relevant competencies as outlined in Delta’s Competency Matrix.
